14 March 1791.[William Howell] bound to Nicholas Cary. [Apprentice bond
appears blank on the microfilm, information taken from endorsements on the
reverse.]

13 June 1791.John Wallace, orphan aged 14 years on 1 June instant, bound to
Jesse Lister, blacksmith of Craven County, as a blacksmith.

15 September 1791.William Probart [Robart?], orphan aged 14 years on 28
November next, bound to William Hawley of New Bern as a Taylor.

16 September 1791.James Dodson, orphan aged 9 years next November, bound to
James Coleman as a shoemaker or cordwainer.

12 [?] December 1791.Clarissa Lambert, orphan girl aged 12 years in October
last, bound to Moses Lambert as a spinster.

1792

12 March 1792.Stephen Whitehead Dunn, orphan aged 8 years last 29 January,
bound to John Whitehead as a cooper.

15 March 1792.James McCallop, orphan aged 14 years, bound to Archibald
McCallop as a Taylor.

16 June 1792.Charles Hardy, orphan aged 15 years next 17 August, bound to
Thomas Cox of New Bern as a house carpenter.

13 December 1792.Suke Moore, a certain [unreadable] girl aged three years,
bound to William Dudley as a spinster.

15 December 1792.Elijah Pope, orphan aged 15 years, bound to John Hay,
shoemaker of New Bern, as a shoemaker. [Signature is John Hayes.]

1793

20 July 1793.Susannah Dove, a free Negro woman, binds her son Isaac Dove, an
orphan aged 6 years old the 4th of April last, to John Brown [no trade
listed, witnessed by Richard Triglith and William Orme. Proved in court in
December 1793].

20 July 1793.Susannah Dove, a free Negro woman, binds her son Thomas Dove,
an orphan aged three years the 4th of May last, to John Brown as a farmer.

1793.]

13 December 1793.James Ruff, free Negro boy aged 18 years, bound to William
Bartlett, mariner, as a mariner.

10 March 1794.Jacob Carter, free Negro boy aged 10 years or thereabouts,
bound to William Jones as a cooper.

11 March 1794.James Powell, orphan aged 9 years the 2nd inst., bound to John
Hayes, shoemaker of New Bern, as a shoemaker. [Endorsed on the back
"surrendered."]

11 September 1794.Beverly Wallace, orphan lad aged 16 in December next,
bound to William Tignor, block maker of New Bern, as a block maker.

13 September 1794.Gilbert Collins, orphan aged 14 years, bound to John Burt,
mariner of New Bern, as a mariner.

Edward Bowen as a wheelwright.

Gaynor [Gainer], widow of New Bern, as a spinster.

17 June 1797.Samuel McKinnin, a "certain lad of colour" aged 4 years the
25th of December last, bound to Isaac Markel, mariner of New Bern, as a
mariner.

16 March 1798.Reading Moore, a base born free Negro boy, bound to Francis
Lowthorp, Esq., of New Bern, as a tobacconist.

10 December 1798.Sampson Wilson, free black boy aged 7 years, bound to
William Tignor of New Bern as a block maker.

10 December 1798.Sylvia Phelps, orphan girl aged 13 years February next,
bound to Samuel Fisher of New Bern as a spinster.

10 December 1798.Levi Clash, orphan aged 16 years, bound to William Tignor
of New Bern as a block maker. [In June 1799, the indentures were "violated"
[?] and Levi Clash was bound to James McKinley as a mariner.]

10 December 1798.Amy Wilson, a free black girl aged 11 years, bound to
William Tignor as a spinster.

mariner of New Bern, as a mariner.

14 March 1799.Major Ernul, orphan aged 17 years, bound to Henry Butler,
mariner of New Bern, as a mariner.
